Control to ensure total quality

Yoplait has always cultivated its eye for detail. In 1993, the production sites adopted a certification policy. Monéteau was the first Yoplait plant to receive ISO 9002 certification. Following changes in the reference base, all the production sites have adapted their quality system and, since 2003, meet the ISO 9001-version 2000 norm.

Quality is everyone’s business at Yoplait. From the design stage and throughout a product’s life cycle, all the personnel are involved in measuring customer satisfaction as potential consumers.


The supply chain

Guaranteeing regular quality of raw materials: milk, fruit, ingredients.
Yoplait proceeds with a strict selection of its suppliers who are integrated into the quality policy.
Sodiaal (50% shareholder in Yoplait) supplies milk. Yoplait thus benefits from the know-how and competence of one of the major players in the sector.

Approval of a supplier is based on a reference framework and on-site audits that control all the assessment criteria of a product or raw material. 

The trusting relationship that Yoplait has always nurtured with its suppliers is not only based on the justification of identical control procedures but also on the adoption of the same philosophy.

Each production unit ensures that production norms are respected throughout the production stages. All key players in the production line make a commitment and implement self-assessment to guarantee perfect control of the quality of the end product.

The production chain is constantly evolving and totally controlled at each stage of production.

To guarantee extreme freshness, Yoplait has set up just-in-time  manufacturing of its chilled product ranges to reduce storage times. As an extension of the production process, high performance logistics are set up to deliver, as rapidly as possible, the thousands of tons of products sold each year.

On-going product assessment
Checking tastes, textures and consistencies

The production sites set up tasting processes through systematic daily investigations. These check the consistency of production and allow the plant to adapt the process or composition and packaging of the product if necessary.

Consumer tests collate consumers’ sensory perceptions and offer a multidimensional analysis to develop new recipes or optimize an existing recipe.

These tastings assess the general quality of products to anticipate consumer satisfaction.

All production recordings guarantee traceability of raw materials and end products to respond with extreme reactivity throughout the production and distribution chain.

The quality department also develops relations with consumers to collate their expectations or any complaints. It also acts as an interface for the central quality departments of retail customers.

Food safety
Guaranteeing the absence of danger

To guarantee food safety of its products, Yoplait has set up a risk management organization by developing the HACCP* method in all its production sites as well as a crisis management policy.
Yoplait also relies on traceability, an essential factor in controlling the system. Finally, audits are conducted to evaluate the efficiency of the system.
