1964
More than 100,000 French farmers, working in six different regional dairy cooperatives, decided to join forces to sell their products better nationally – and the foundation of SODIMA was formed!
1965
They dropped their own brands and created "Yoplait", the first complete range of fresh daily products (the name Yoplait comes from "Yola" and "Coplait", brands operated by two of these cooperatives).
Whereas returnable jars were still the rule, Yoplait was innovative and became the first brand to offer a complete range of chilled products in throwaway packaging.
1967
Yoplait established itself on the French market with the launch of its first fruit yoghurt – and it’s still the world leader today.
1968
Launch of flower-shaped petits suisses.
Yoplait was one of the first brands to appear on TV.
1969
Yoplait signed its first franchise contract in Switzerland with Union Laitière Vaudoise.
1971
Yoplait crossed the Atlantic and established itself in the US and Quebec. The blueberry yoghurt appealed to Canadians.
It also marks the creation of Yopfrais fromages frais.
1972
Yoplait launched its first diet dairy products that would give birth to the Silhouette range and later Panier 0% range, as well as producing the first colouring-free flavoured yoghurts.
1973
The first Yoplait conference- it brought all international franchisees together.
1974
The invention of the first drinking yoghurt, Yop, revolutionized the yoghurt market and became the drink of a whole generation in France, before going on to conquer the world !
Yoplait products arrive in Ireland.
